RCR filed an amicus curiae brief on behalf of Harvard University, Boston University, Boston College, and 15 other Massachusetts colleges and universities, in support of the position of MIT in a precedent-setting case pending in the Supreme Judicial Court, Estate of Nguyen v MIT, et al. The RCR team that wrote the brief included Alan D. Rose, Aidan Flanagan, and Anthony Moriello.

Middlesex Superior Court Justice Kenneth Fishman denied the plaintiff’s motion for a preliminary injunction and dismissed the Complaint filed against RCR’s client, Google, LLC, finding that the claim against Google, filed by a biotech company claiming to be defamed by a post on Google, was barred by the immunity provisions of the Communications Decency Act of 1997. The case was litigated by Alan D. Rose, Meredith Doty, and Laura Kirshenbaum of RCR.

Suffolk Superior Court Justice Heidi Brieger granted summary judgment to RCR’s client, a law firm that had been sued for legal malpractice. Judge Brieger found that the plaintiff’s claim failed for lack of expert evidence of any causal connection between the claimed malpractice and the alleged injury to the plaintiff.
